The most important information you could ever know.

In an effort to NOT do my Pharmacology take home test, here are 25 things about me...if you care.

1. I am extremely OCD when it comes to certain things. I set two alarm clocks and when I set them I check them 3-4 times to make sure they are set correctly. I click the lock button on my truck at least twice to make sure my truck is locked.

2. I like to take extremely hot showers. So hot my skin turns red.

3. I am psycho obsessed with I Love Lucy. My dad told me he does not have 1 memory of me not watching that show. During the summer, when my brother and I were kids, we would watch the episodes over and over. Now, I have them all on DVD and can recite all the lines. Sometimes, I quote lines from the show and NOBODY knows what I'm talking about and I'm the only one laughing.

4. I love love love to travel, but am scared to fly.

5. My gut instinct is to say Im unlucky, but I guess I am, since I win trips to Africa and thousands of dollars in electronics.

6. Ive met/seen a lot of famous people: Alec Bladwin, Barbara Streisand, Cameron Diaz, Danny Divito, Joan Cusack, Heather Locklear, Bob Eubanks, Ellen Degeneres, Joaquin Phoenix, Abigail Breslin, Jason Patric, James Van Der Beek, Richie Sambora, Jay Leno, Scott Hamilton, Kate Winslet, Reese Witherspoon, Tommy Lasorda, Katherine McPhee, Alissa Milano...thats all I can think of right now.

7. I know a lot of totally random facts...Did you know that the name of the plane that dropped the bomb on Hiroshima was called the Enola Gay.

8. I dislike how grad school totally makes you too busy to enjoy your life.

9. I love the internet. I college I hardly ever watched TV. I would just be on the internet all the time. Maybe thats why I know a lot of random facts.

10. My dog was one of my best friends.

11. I sponsor a child from Malawi named Chimwemwe Mapulanga.

12. I feel like the 101 and 405 freeways are my second home.

13. I collect cookbooks.

14. I hate going to the doctor. So I never go. You probably couldn't get me there even if my arm fell off.

15. I hate driving up hills.

16. People tell me on a semi-daily basis that I look anywhere from 16-18 years of age. Seriously people, I'm 10 years older than that!!

17. I'm boring in that, Ive never broken a bone, never had braces, don't need glasses, not allergic to anything, and never been in the hospital.

18. Except...I am painfully allergic to alcohol. After even an ounce, I turn bright red and become incapacitated. 99% of the time I just end up with a huge headache and fall asleep, the other 1% of the time, Im A-OK!!!

19. My patients' parents often say, "Wow, it's amazing what you do." But I think, what I do for them can not compare to the sacrifice they make. Their sick child becomes their life. I am in awe of THEM.

20. I get mad at Ed when he's being funnier than me.

21. I'm the funniest person I know. I laugh the hardest at all my own jokes!!! HAHAHAHA.

22. I hate all movies when animals get hurt, especially dogs. Even though I know they don't really get hurt while filming, I still hate it.

23. If there is anything on TV about sharks. I turn it off or change the channel. Ignorance is bliss. Surfing and sharks don't mix.

24. I've had a job since I was 15 years old. Discovery Zone, Chuck E Cheese, Albertsons, Wells Fargo, Starbucks, Trader Joes, SDSU Bookstore, Student Nurse Extern at Scripps Memorial La Jolla, RN at RR UCLA Med Center. Yeay for work!!

25. This took me way longer than I thought it would.

I love pathophysiology!!!

This is what happens when you have to cram all your studying into one day because you work all weekend and the day before your test. It's also not very encouraging when your professor says that on this first test, you're probably going to get the worst grade you'll ever get in this class. Could anyone out there help me with this lecture objective? : Explain the mechanisms underlying osmolality imbalances, the relationship between these and sodium imbalance, and cellular and tissue responses to hyper- and hypoosmolar environments.

...This sucks. Is it June 2010 yet????

Don't quit your day job

This past weekend my girlfriends and I took a trip to Sin City. Unfortunately, we did witness a few sins being committed. Not by us of course, but by one Joaquin Phoenix.
Apparently, a few months back, Mr. Phoenix announced that he was retiring from acting to pursue a career in music. Because of that announcement, we thought it was really cool when we found out that he was appearing at the club we were going to that night. After getting into the club, we patiently waited for the star to arrive. Soon, he arrived in true Hollywood fashion complete with paparazzi and herds of adoring women. So, in true stalker fashion, Lauren, Liz and I pushed our way through the crowd to find this gorgeous hunk of man:

Well, Joaquin didn't want to disappoint all his adoring fans. So, after a few minutes of hob-nobbing with the crowd, he proceeded to dazzle us with his musical talent.

...Joaquin, please don't quit your day job. Please.....Please.

Feliz Navidad

It already seems like Christmas was ages ago, but It's never too late to post Christmas pics. Sorry I'm slow. School started again and I hardly have time to take a shower. I know...so sad.

Our Christmas tree packed full of gifts!!

PeePee and PooPoo came by for a visit and made sure to where their Christmas best.

We decided to have a Mexican themed dinner (we are Garcias after all). Our feast included homemade refried beans, Mexican rice, and Tamales. Yum-o.
