(500) Days of Summer is a new movie that Edward and I saw a few weeks ago. I must say, we loved it! It's not your run of the mill romantic dramady. It stars the charming Zooey Deschanel and oh-so-cute Joseph Gordon-Levitt. As a 12-year-old, I remember watching Gordon-Levitt on the television show Third Rock from the Sun. He was even cute then!
Anyway, it's just one of those movies that you think about long after you leave the theater. The soundtrack is also quite exceptional. It has fab music from the likes of Regina Spektor, The Smiths, The Temper Trap, Feist, She & Him, Ms. Deschanel herself and many more.
Check out the trailer. Then go see it.
The last scene of the movie takes place in the famous Bradbury Building in downtown Los Angeles. I read about this building in a magazine a few years back. It was built in 1893 and funded by a real estate developer named Lewis Bradbury. The architect George H. Wyman's design of this building was influenced by Edward Bellamy's 1887 book entitled Looking Backward. In this book, the author describes a utopian society in the year 2000 where average commercial buildings have a, "vast hall full of light, received not alone from the windows on all sides, but from the dome, the point of which was a hundred feet above ... The walls and ceiling were frescoed in mellow tints, calculated to soften without absorbing the light which flooded the interior."
So last week Edward and I took a trip to visit this historic building. Interestingly, the outside of this building looks quite ordinary. Just a pile of red bricks. But once you enter the two glass paneled doors, the flood of natural light is amazing. Here are some of my pics.

Wow! I must see this movie it sounds like one I would love and I love the soundtrack already! I must check out this building.. looks incredible for photography! A couple shot there on the staircase and such with all the natural light.. so cute! I may just need to experiment on you and Ed! :)
